You're not supposed to hear this yet. It hasn't been released, announced, or played live. It's a raw demo called Just A Chemical, a little more experimental than what you might expect from us, and this page exists for one reason: you're part of Backstage, and we wanted you to have it first.

This is what a song looks like before it's born. It starts as an idea. A riff, a melody, an interesting sound one of us stumbled across. We record it, sit with it, and decide if it's worth chasing. If the instrumental feels right, we start writing lyrics and figure out if it deserves a trip to the studio.

By the time a song is finished, it can sound completely different from where it started. In the studio we add layers, textures, overdubbed vocals, new instruments. The demo you're hearing today might bear little resemblance to the final version, and that's kind of the point of letting you in this early.

There's a small risk in sharing music at this stage. Sometimes people fall in love with the demo and the studio version feels strange to them. We're okay with that risk. We thought it would be more interesting for you to watch the process play out than to just hand you a finished product.
